Biden Issues Cryptic Warning to Iran After Admin Denies Country Was Involved in Hamas Attack

President Biden, addressing a group of Jewish leaders at the White House, issued a stern warning to the Islamic Republic of Iran on Wednesday.

“You know, I spoke with Prime Minister Netanyahu I don’t know how many times, but again this morning, and already we’re surging additional military assistance to the Israeli Defense Force, including ammunition, interceptors to replenish the Iron Dome, and we’ve moved the U.S. carrier fleet to the Eastern Mediterranean, and we’re sending more fighter jets there to that region, and made it clear—made it clear to the Iranians: Be careful,” Biden said.

This warning came despite the administration’s consistent denial of any connection between Iran and the recent devastating attacks by Hamas, which resulted in the death of over 1,200 individuals in Israel. Notably, Biden refrained from mentioning Iran in his speech addressing the attacks.

National Security Counsel spokesperson John Kirby, earlier in the day, reinforced the administration’s stance. He stated that no concrete evidence existed linking Iran to the heinous acts committed by Hamas during the past weekend. Yet, he did not dismiss the potential for this assessment to evolve as intelligence undergoes further evaluation.

Contrary to this, The Wall Street Journal published a report on Sunday. It claimed that Iranian security officials had given their nod to Hamas’ strategy to assault Israel. This approval reportedly took place during a meeting in Beirut on October 2. Leaders from both Hamas and Hezbollah have asserted that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps collaborated with Hamas since August. Their joint efforts encompassed devising plans for attacks via air, land, and sea.

Corroborating these claims, a European official, who advises the Syrian government, confirmed the assertions made by the leaders of Hamas and Hezbollah.

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, during a televised speech on Tuesday, expressed his admiration for the planners of the attack.

“We kiss the hands of those who planned the attack,” Khamenei said. Donning a Palestinian scarf, Khamenei, in his first broadcasted comments since the onset of Hamas’ attacks on Israel, also refuted Tehran’s involvement, as per Reuters.

Post the attack, the Biden administration has come under intensified scrutiny. Critics have pointed fingers at the administration for its decision to release $6 billion of Iranian assets that had been previously frozen.
