Israel has launched a massive airstrike in Yemen, targeting Houthi rebels. The attack comes amid escalating tensions in the region of Middle East.

The Israeli military confirmed the airstrike, stating that dozens of Air Force aircraft, including fighter jets, refuelling planes, and reconnaissance aircraft, attacked military-use targets of the Houthi terrorist regime in the Ras Issa and Hodeida areas of Yemen.

“Today’s operation was a significant escalation in our response to the Houthi threat,” said Captain David Avraham, a military spokesman told AFP. “We will not tolerate attacks on Israeli territory, and we will take all necessary measures to protect our citizens.”

Earlier, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that it eliminated Nabil Qaouk, Vice President of Hezbollah’s Executive Council, in airstrikes in Lebanon’s Beirut. This comes just a day after the Lebanese militant group announced its longtime leader Hassan Nasrallah was killed in an Israeli air strike on a suburb of Beirut.

An official statement by IDF read, “The Commander of Hezbollah’s Preventative Security Unit and a member of their Executive Council, Nabil Qaouk, was eliminated in a precise IDF strike. Qaouk was close to Hezbollah’s senior commanders and was directly engaged in terrorist attacks against the State of Israel and its citizens. “

Hezbollah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah was killed in an Israeli airstrike. The Israeli Military claimed that it had ‘eliminated’ Nasrallah in a “targeted strike” on Hezbollah’s underground headquarters beneath a residential building in Dahiyeh. Shortly after this, Lebanon’s Hezbollah group has confirmed that its leader and one of its founding members, Nasrallah, was dead. Israeli forces named the operation in which Nasrallah was killed as ‘New Order’.

As per the global news agency, Nasrallah was believed to be killed due to trauma caused by the blast. Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah on Saturday confirmed the death of its leader Hassan Nasrallah. In a statement, Hezbollah said it would continue its fight against Israel in support of Gaza. The militant group issued the statement about Nasrallah’s death, hours after Israeli Defence Forces claimed that he was killed in an airstrike on Lebanon’s Beirut.
