As Israel goes on a full-blown offensive against the Lebanese group Hezbollah, the IDF has made some shocking revelations about how the Iran-backed outfit uses civilians as “human shields.” The IDF shared a post on X, where it explained how Hezbollah exploits civilian infrastructure as weapons storage sites and uses Lebanese people as human shields.

The IDF’s statement follows Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s message to the people of Lebanon, warning them to move to a safer location, as the war is not against civilians but with the Iran-backed militant group.

“Please, get out of harm’s way now. Once our operation is finished, you can come back safely to your homes,” Netanyahu said in a video statement shortly after the Israeli army announced it had struck 800 Hezbollah targets in Lebanon.

Israeli strikes on Lebanon killed 492 people, including more than 24 children, on Monday, according to the Lebanese health minister. This marks the deadliest cross-border escalation since the conflict in Gaza began on October 7. In his statement to the Lebanese public, Netanyahu asserted that Hezbollah was responsible for endangering their security.

“Hezbollah has been using you as human shields. It placed rockets in your living rooms and missiles in your garage,” he said.

“Don’t let Hezbollah endanger your lives and the lives of your loved ones.”

Meanwhile, residents in southern Lebanon and northern Israel evacuated their homes in search of safety. In Haifa, sirens prompted citizens to seek shelter on Monday evening, as reported by the Israeli army, which noted that sirens were activated in Haifa and surrounding areas.

On that day, approximately 180 projectiles and one unmanned aerial vehicle entered Israeli airspace, with most being intercepted by Israel’s Iron Dome defense system or landing in uninhabited areas.

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden called for restraint on Monday, stating that the United States was working to de-escalate tensions in Lebanon following Israeli airstrikes on Hezbollah strongholds that killed at least 274 people, including children.

“I’ve been briefed on the latest developments in Israel and Lebanon. My team is in constant contact with their counterparts, and we’re working to de-escalate in a way that allows people to return home safely,” Biden said.

The Pentagon announced the deployment of a “small number” of additional troops to the Middle East amid rising concerns of a broader regional conflict, as Israel conducted hundreds of strikes in Lebanon, marking the deadliest cross-border escalation in nearly a year of violence between Israel and Hezbollah.
