Michigan Democrats Block RFK Jr’s Removal from State’s 2024 Ballot

Democrat officials in Michigan have rejected a request from independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to remove his name from the key battleground state’s 2024 ballot.

As such, Kennedy’s name will remain on Michigan’s 2024 presidential ballot despite suspending his campaign.

RFK Jr. suspended his presidential campaign during a Phoenix press conference last Friday.

In doing so, Kennedy endorsed President Donald Trump.

Polling had shown that Kennedy’s presence on the ballots would draw votes away from Trump in some swing states.

However, RFK Jr., who was previously running as a Democrat, would draw more votes away from Vice President Kamala Harris in some other states.

In order to help Trump beat Harris, the Democrat nominee, Kennedy has sought to remove himself from ballots in states where his presence hurts the 45th president.

However, Kennedy will stay on the ballot in states where his presence will hurt Harris more than Trump.

“In about 10 battleground states, where my presence would be a spoiler, I’m going to remove my name,” RFK Jr. said.

“And I’ve already started that process and urge voters not to vote for me.”

However, Michigan’s Democrat Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson has refused to remove Kennedy’s name from the ballot.

A spokesperson for Benson told Axios that RFK Jr. cannot withdraw his name from the ballot.

“Minor party candidates cannot withdraw, so his name will remain on the ballot in the November election,” said Jocelyn Benson’s office.

However, Benson fought to keep far-left candidate Cornel West off the Michigan ballot.

While Kennedy has been popular among many Democrat and Republican voters, West’s radical campaign only appeals to leftists and his name on the ballot only hurts Harris, not Trump.

In the state of Michigan, RFK Jr. is the nominee for the Natural Law Party.

In a statement, Benson’s spokesperson said:

“The Natural Law Party held their convention to select electors for [RFK Jr.].

“They cannot meet at this point to select new electors since it’s past the primary”

RFK Jr. voters move overwhelmingly to Trump in Michigan.

It’s clear why the Democrat Secretary of State is keeping Kennedy on the ballot in a crucial battleground state.
